The links have been broken into the three categories listed above. The last update to this page was on April 24, 2009. Please check back as the links will change and grow. "Locations" features sites with stories and lore as well as places to visit and link sites. This is split into two sections. The first is Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Illinois general sites are listed in the second part. The "Tours" sections links to area companies that will guide you through some of the locations you see here and elsewhere. Lastly, the "Text" section is by far the most in-depth in substance if not in the amount of links. The web is a good place to start research into a subject, but text sources are the best places to continue.
resource for the latest in what goes bump in the night in our own backyard. Incredible stuff not to be missed!
You want the best, Chicago and Illinois have the best. The two below come with my highest recommendations. These are NOT two versions of the same tour. Each company has a unique approach and exclusive locations. Look through them both. Go on tours with both if you can for the full Chicago paranormal experience.

They're back with a full line-up of new and unique investigations and sites no one else has yet heard of. Although relatively new, S.O.S. has been hard at work digging up points of interest. Got to admire their spirit. They also do on-sight investigations. |

A fellow Illinoisian has put together this beautiful and well researched virtual guide to our local collective "masks of night." Excellent job on citations and references in the bibliography. In addition, he and Ursula Bielski co-wrote the definitive work on Chicago's necropoleis. |

This is the home page for the Haunted Chicago Paranormal Research and Investigation Society. They chronicle not only the stories, but also the procedures used. An excellent place to start for information on serious paranormal research. |

A fun page with lots of links, pictures and stories. If you're looking for a steady stream of stories, sign up for the mailing list. If you'd like to get your story of the paranormal distributed widely and quickly, Jamie's the one to get in touch with. He's also one of the nicest virtual people I've met. |

This Chicago based paranormal research team has achieved some spectacular results considering their meager budget and resources. A sincere commitment and enthusiasm combined with a diligent self-scrutiny set them apart from the crowd. They also conduct tours and hold lectures and presentations. Be sure to check their web-site for breaking developments as this is a very active group. |

Sancho's back! But in a new form. Some old stories mixed with new and an expanded format covering more of the mid-west. An impressive collection from an impressive collector! |

Two hours from anywhere that's out of site of a corn field. That's where I spent the better or worse of my adolescence. The winter fields are akin to the Sahara for finding nothing more than the absence of all. Within those fields rest the brief history of what was once the American west now long passed over and often regarded as nothing more than the mid-point between two shores. The lives of those although now dust rise a bit from the prairie sod now and then, telling tales with a Midwestern sensibility, bleak, short, tragic, but also with a humor dry, cold, and to the point. These are the tales I like best. And this fellow Illinoisan has done a hell of a job capturing them. |
